Privacy Policy

LidLoop is a mobile app for trading items in person with people nearby. This policy explains what information the LidLoop app and its services (“LidLoop”, “we”, “us”) collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. LidLoop does not sell your personal information and does not show third-party advertising.

Information you give us

• Account details: your email address and password (passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication and are never visible to us), plus the display name, username (handle) and optional profile photo you choose.
• Listings: titles, descriptions, categories, condition, the items you would accept in trade, and the photos you add.
• Messages and trades: conversations with other members, trade offers, meetup proposals, swap confirmations and ratings.
• Preferences: your search radius, city, appearance setting and swap-agent alert preferences.

Location

With your permission, LidLoop uses your device’s location to show items near you, calculate distances and suggest public meetup places. Your coordinates are stored with your profile and listings so matching works. Other members only ever see an approximate distance (rounded, never less than 0.1 miles) and the city you’ve set, never your coordinates or address. You can deny or revoke location access in your device settings and enter a city instead.

Camera and photos

LidLoop asks for camera and photo-library access only so you can add pictures of items you list. Photos are compressed on your device and uploaded only when you choose to.

How we use information

• To run your account and show your listings to people nearby.
• To find trade matches and power in-app messaging, trade offers and meetups.
• To provide optional AI assistance: drafting listings from your photos and description, suggesting trade matches and guiding a trade.
• To keep the community safe, including automated moderation of listing text and photos, and to prevent abuse and fraud.
• To keep the app reliable and fast (performance monitoring) and to respond when you contact us.

What other members can see

Your display name, handle, profile photo, city, active listings (with their photos and accepted trades), your count of completed trades, and the approximate distance to your items. Messages are visible only to the participants in that conversation.

Service providers

We use trusted providers to operate LidLoop. They process data on our behalf and only to provide their service:

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, Hosting and Performance Monitoring) to host your account, listings, messages and app infrastructure.
• Cloudflare R2 to store and deliver listing photos.
• OpenAI to provide the optional AI listing and trade assistance and content moderation. The listing text and photos you submit for these features are sent to OpenAI for processing.
• Google Maps Platform (Places) to look up cities and suggest public meetup venues.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our members or the public.

Retention

Listings stay active for 17 days and are then archived for a short grace period before they are hidden. Account information, messages and trade history are kept while your account is open so the app works as expected. Temporary AI drafts and search caches expire automatically.

Deleting your data

You can delete individual listings and conversations at any time. To delete everything, open You → Delete account and data in the app. This permanently removes your profile, listings and their photos, AI drafts and your conversations. Where a conversation involved another member, they will see that a participant deleted their account. You can also ask us to delete your data by emailing support@lidloop.com.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Most of this can be done directly in the app; for anything else, contact us and we will respond within 30 days.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access to it is restricted by security rules, and payment details are never collected because LidLoop has no payments. No system is perfectly secure, so please meet in public places and use the in-app safety steps when you trade.

Children

LidLoop is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
